Looking more like Bill Murray or Jeffrey Tambor, the 49-year-old shed his luxurious brown locks to expose a receding hairline and masked his enviable facial features with makeup and prosthetics in a poster for the film directed by Ridley Scott.
Leto plays Paolo Gucci, the former vice president and managing director of the Italian fashion brand.
The film centers on socialite Patrizia Reggiani, portrayed by Gaga, who was accused of hiring a hitman to murder her ex-husband Maurizio Gucci, played by Adam Driver.
On Thursday evening, fans got a longer look at Leto, Driver and Mother Monster's makeovers as the film’s first trailer was released.
Decked out in furs, smoking cigarettes, and rockin' a series of brown wigs, Gaga - and her Italian accent - take center stage as the clip depicts Patrizia's happier days at her wedding to Maurizio, fashion shows, and disco dancing at Studio 54. To fully capture the vibe of the decadent era, Blondie’s “Heart of Glass” plays in the background throughout.
The glamorous scenes eventually take a more sinister turn leading up to the murder.
“I don’t consider myself to be a particularly ethical person,” says Gaga as Patrizia. “But I am fair.”
Based on Sara Gay Forden’s novel “The House of Gucci: A Sensational Story of Murder, Madness, Glamour, and Greed,” the film also stars Al Pacino, Salma Hayek and Jeremy Irons.
“House of Gucci” is set to be released in theaters on Nov. 24.
