Why the rarest Taylor Swift vinyl isn't Taylor at all, but 90s British dance music

Taylor Swift fans got a big surprise when they received their vinyl copies of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version) and it didn’t consist of a single Swift song.

Instead, fan’s record players filled their rooms with sounds of British electronica music by the band, Cabaret Voltaire.

Fans took to TikTok to share the mishap, which surely got their Swiftie wheels turning. Was it really a mistake? Could it be one of Taylor’s infamous easter eggs? Is a collab with the English music group named after a nightclub in Zürich on the way?

Swift’s label was quick to straighten out the spiraling minds sharing it was a mishap that affected a very small number of the distributed vinyls.

“We are aware that there are an extremely limited number of incorrectly pressed vinyl copies in circulation and have addressed the issue,” Taylor’s parent label, Universal Music Group, shared in a statement with Billboard. “If you have purchased one of the affected goods, please contact customer service at your respective retailer for a replacement or refund.”

Additionally, the distribution company responsible for the major, yet comical error, also addressed fans via social media. “Due to a delicate pressing blunder, some Taylor Swift fans received a misprinted copy of Speak Now (Taylor’s Version), which we have learned features audio of our in house compilation ‘Happy Land (A Compendium of Music from the British Isles 1992-1996),’” they wrote.

“Never in our wildest dreams could we imagine this situation. While we know all too well this error was beyond our control, we sincerely hope anyone who received what is Not Taylor’s Version of the vinyl is enchanted by the blissful electronica. Keep your eyes peeled for this special edition we’re sure it’s going to be a Discogs rare pressing classic in years to come.”
