A recent report revealed Murphy will soon begin filming the new comedy action film in California over the course of 58 days, per The Holllywood Reporter.

While the upcoming "Beverly Hills Cop" sequel was first announced back in 2019, there hasn’t been much news about the project since. However, California’s Film & TV tax credit program recently revealed a list of 23 films set to be filmed in the state, including "Beverly Hills Cop 4."

No start date was announced, but the report confirmed fans will have a new film to enjoy in the near future.

The first film in the comedy franchise first hit the big screens in 1984. Since then, fans have seen Murphy as Axel Foley, a street-smart Detroit cop who visits Beverly Hills, California, in two sequels.

The original "Beverly Hills Cop" shot Murphy into movie stardom, winning a People's Choice Award for Favorite Motion Picture. The movie was also nominated for both a Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture -- Musical or Comedy and an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 1985.

The upcoming sequel will reportedly be directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who directed "Bad Boys for Life," and will stream on Netflix upon its release, according to MovieWeb.

The last film in the franchise, "Beverly Hills Cop III," was released in 1994.

A premiere date for "Beverly Hills Cop 4" has not been revealed.
