On Wednesday, Morgan tweeted a photo of himself with Simone Biles as he doubled down on his controversial criticism of the Olympic champion's decision to step down from two competitions for mental health reasons.

"You can either listen to snowflake Twitter, @Simone_Biles - or listen to me. You're a great champion, & great champions get back on their feet when they get knocked down. So, re-engage in these Games, win Gold, & inspire with the power of resilience not resignation. Go for it," the controversial TV personality captioned the photo.

On Tuesday, Morgan shared his opinion that it was a “joke” that Biles, a United States gymnast, announced that she would be stepping down from the competition for mental health reasons.

“Are ‘mental health issues’ now the go-to excuse for any poor performance in elite sport? What a joke,” Morgan tweeted. “Just admit you did badly, made mistakes, and will strive to do better next time. Kids need strong role models not this nonsense.”

The Olympic champion's withdrawal from some events incensed the former “Good Morning Britain” host, who suggested that she was not being honest and was upset over her performance.

Earlier this week, the USA Gymnastics official Twitter account announced that Biles would withdraw from the team final competition due to a medical issue, which she appeared to sustain after landing a vault.

However, later in the day, Biles joined Hoda Kotb on NBC’s “Today Show” and discussed her sudden departure, downplaying her injuries.

Since Biles was the face of Team USA, she said that it has stressed her out and was afraid that her mental state would take away from the team’s success.

On Wednesday morning, Biles decided to take herself out of the final individual all-around competition additionally.

USA Gymnastics released a statement regarding her choice, showing support for her after making the difficult decision to take a break from competing while she looks to focus on her mental health.
