Ariana Grande officially kicked off her next music era today with the release of her new single, “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” the first song from her upcoming eighth studio album, “Petal,” arriving July 31.
Ariana called the track “one of my favorite songs” she's ever written and reunited with longtime hitmaking collaborators Max Martin and ILYA to produce it.
The song serves as the lead single from “Petal,” which Ariana has described as an album centered on growth, resilience, and finding beauty through difficult circumstances.
Fans won't have to wait long for more. The official music video premieres Monday morning and stars actor Justin Long. Early teasers have a creepy, horror movie vibe with Long appearing distressed while Ariana mysteriously appears behind him.
The release comes just one week before Ariana launches her first major concert tour in seven years.
The "Eternal Sunshine Tour" begins June 6 and will feature music from "Eternal Sunshine," "Positions," and the upcoming "Petal" album.
The new single immediately sparked excitement online, with fans praising the Max Martin production and pushing the song to the top of digital charts shortly after release.
