o It’s official, a Britney biopic is in the works!
o Yesterday, Universal Pictures announced that they have secured the rights to her 2023 memoir The Woman in Me.
o Jon M. Chu, who directed movies like Wicked and Crazy Rich Asians is set to direct.
o She released her memoir last year and sold more than 2.5 million copies in the United States alone.
o It covers her rise to fame, her conservatorship, the strain of the relationships with her family and more.
o Britney made a post on social media saying, “Excited to share with my fans that I've been working on a secret project with #MarcPlatt. He’s always made my favorite movies … stay tuned.”
o No casting decisions have been announced yet but there’s a lot of speculation on who would be cast as Britney.
o Some of the names that have been mentioned are Millie Bobby Brown, Sydney Sweeney, Florence Pugh, Sabrina Carpenter, Tate McCrae and Madelyn Cline.
o Filming and movie release dates have not been announced yet.
