·Carolina wins its second Stanley Cup in franchise history and its first since 2006, when current head coach Rod Brind’Amour was the team captain.
·Hurricanes goalie Brandon Bussi was the difference-maker late in the series. After entering as the starter in Game 4, he went 3-0 and finished Game 6 with a 22-save shutout.
·The Golden Knights had led the series 2-1 after their double overtime win in Game 3, but Carolina took control from there with stronger goaltending and a defense that shut down Vegas’ offense.
·Carter Hart made 20 saves for the Knights, but Vegas could not find the net in its biggest game of the season.
·Even with the painful ending, this was still a wild run for the Golden Knights.
·After a coaching change in late March, Vegas finished the regular season 7-0-1, won the Pacific Division, and made it all the way back to the Stanley Cup Final.
