o As we approach the end of 2024, The Hollywood Reporter put out their list of the year’s biggest winners and loser.
o Here are some of the highlights:
§ Winner: Zendaya and other former child stars. Specifically, Selena Gomez, Ariana Grande, and Lindsay Lohan, who's having kind of a comeback year.
§ Losers: Kevin Costner and Francis Ford Coppola. "Horizon" and "Megalopolis" were big, expensive passion projects that both went bust.
§ Winner: Taylor Sheridan. While Costner left "Yellowstone" to do "Horizon", everything Sheridan touches continues to turn to gold.
§ Winner: Everybody involved with "The Penguin".
§ Loser: Everybody involved with "Joker: Folie à Deux".
§ Winner: Chappell Roan and the pop girls of summer.
§ Loser: Katy Perry, whose big pop music comeback was a critical and commercial dud.
§ Winner AND Loser: Beyoncé. Her "Cowboy Carter" album debuted at #1, and also made her the first black woman to top the Country Album chart. But sales dropped off quickly, and the album was snubbed by the "CMAs.”
