·Travis Kelce is officially adding “baseball team owner” to his résumé.
·The Cleveland Heights native and three time Super Bowl champion has joined the ownership group for the Cleveland Guardians as a minority investor.
·Kelce announced the news on the latest episode of the “New Heights” podcast and said the opportunity was something he couldn’t pass up because of his lifelong connection to Cleveland.
·He talked about growing up on the East Side, taking the RTA downtown to games at Progressive Field, buying scorecards, and dreaming about one day playing for the hometown team.
·Kelce called joining the organization “a dream come true” and said this is his way of planting roots in Cleveland forever.
·He thanked Guardians owner Paul Dolan and vice chairman David Blitzer for giving him the opportunity.
·The move creates a funny little sports ownership rivalry because Patrick Mahomes is already a minority owner of the Kansas City Royals.
·Guardians manager Stephen Vogt joked he’s still bitter over the Chiefs beating his beloved 49ers in two Super Bowls, but said it’s “pretty cool” to have Kelce involved with the team.
·Kelce will appear at Progressive Field on June 14 when the Guardians host the Detroit Tigers.
·He also joked about redeeming himself after his infamous first pitch in 2023 bounced well before home plate.
·Mahomes even reposted the clip online while congratulating him on becoming part owner.
