In conjunction with county leaders, the pair will be collaborating to create 31 housing units for those suffering from homelessness. The project, expected to launch in October, is estimated to cost around $8.4 million and the county will use $7.2 million of the American Rescue Plan fund.

Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo hinted at a much larger surprise to come when she shared that an “even bigger launch” on the housing units would come in September while Beyoncé is in town for her Renaissance tour dates.

“We just did the homeless count again, so it’s initiatives like this one I certainly will be supportive of it no matter whose behind it, but it’s especially interesting, I think, because there are these names of Beyoncé and Kelly Rowland, who, of course, have been supportive of the community for a very long time," Hidalgo said in a press conference.

The Knowles-Rowland House will not only provide permanent housing, but it will also include case managers, support services such as mental and physical health support, service specialists and more.
