The COVID-19 outbreak last year put a clamp on many people coming down with the flu thanks to social distancing and face masks. However, senior officials within the CDC are warning that the flu WILL come roaring back this year.

This is because most people are getting back to normal when they meet up with other people, and we're not wearing masks like we used to.
Right now, most states are pretty clear with only a few cases, with CDC director Rochelle Walensky tweeting "Recent surveillance shows increases in flu activity that could mark the beginning of the flu season."
With more people getting together for the holidays, and fewer people looking to get vaccinated against the flu this year with all the concentration on getting COVID-19 vaccinations, flu cases could rise.
Researchers say the best thing to do is to get both the COVID-19 vaccine and the flu shot at the same time.
