On a recent episode of “Loose Women,” Sally Phillips, Preston’s co-star, revealed that Preston kept her breast cancer battle a secret while they filmed the movie, according to the Mirror.
“She was so bloomin’ beautiful. And so vibrant and you would never have known. She was so professional,” Phillips said.
Preston suddenly passed away at the age of 57 in July of 2020 after a long two-year battle with breast cancer. This current movie would be her last project.
Phillips shared that stars like Chadwick Boseman and Helen McCrory in the Hollywood world were secretive while battling an illness.
“That’s what people do — they go through it on their own because of worries about insurance for the film, and working again afterwards,” Phillips added.
“Off the Rails” shares the story of three women who go on a journey across Europe from their youth while they honor their late friend, whose last wish was to go on a trip with her teenage daughter in her absence.
Last week, in honor of Preston’s last film, John Travolta posted a touching tribute to his late wife of 28 years, Kelly Preston.
The actor, 67, shared the trailer for the movie on Instagram, writing “Off the Rails is Kelly's last film- she was very proud of it and of all of the wonderful talent that she got to work with in it.”
Ella Travolta, the daughter of Preston and Travolta, shared a similar message about her mom’s upcoming film.
Travolta, 21, wrote that she is “very proud of my mother's last film and I know she was too. She very much enjoyed the time she had making this wonderful picture and all of the lovely people she got to work with.”
