o    She shocked the world when she announced that she would not be competing in two Olympic finals due to mental health issues.

o    Now we’re learning a little more about what she has been dealing with.

o    Biles told reporters that she was “having a little bit of the twisties,” which are like the yips in other sports.

o    Gymnasts have described the “twisties” as a mental block that can affect your physical performance.

o    The phenomenon can cause someone to lose their sense of space and dimension as they’re in the air. That causes them to lose control of their body and they may find themselves unable to land safely.

o    Biles said she had planned to perform a 2 1/2-twisting vault but her mind stalled after just 1 ½ twists.

o    She said, “I had no idea where I was in the air. I could have hurt myself.”

#ZZTop

o    The band’s longtime bassist, Dusty Hill, has died at the age of 72.

o    He passed away at his home in Houston.

o    His bandmates Billy Gibbons and Frank Beard said on their website “We are saddened by the news today that our Compadre, Dusty Hill, has passed away in his sleep at home in Houston, TX. We, along with legions of ZZ Top fans around the world, will miss your steadfast presence, your good nature and enduring commitment to providing that monumental bottom to the 'Top'. We will forever be connected to that "Blues Shuffle in C. You will be missed greatly, amigo."

o    The band was formed in 1969.

o    Hill joined not long after, staying with ZZ Top for more than five decades, until his death.

#Instagram

o    The social media site is aiming to create a safer and more private platform to those 16-and-under.

o    Minors logging into Instagram for the first time will now automatically default to a private account.

o    Previously, new accounts would default to public settings and anyone could search for and view their profile.

o    They said, “Wherever we can, we want to stop young people from hearing from adults they don’t know, or that they don’t want to hear from. We believe private accounts are the best way to prevent this from happening.”

#BaskinRobbins

o    Just in time for the Olympics, they have brought back their popular Gold Medal Ribbon ice cream.

o    If you’re not familiar with it, it’s chocolate and vanilla ice cream with a caramel ribbon that runs throughout.

o    It was first introduced in 1979 “to honor being a champion with every scoop.”

o    The flavor has been a favorite for decades but will only be around for a limited time.
