Former President Donald Trump was sicker than publicly known with COVID-19 last year.
According to reporting from The New York Times on Thursday, Trump and his medical team tried to downplay his condition.
Those conditions included oxygen levels in the 80s when the disease is considered severe if those levels are in the low 90s, according to the story. Trump also had lung infiltrates or when lungs become inflamed, the story reported.
It was so worrisome that two people familiar with his condition told the Times that officials believed Trump would have to be put on a ventilator.
Trump also did not want to go to Walter Reed National Military Medical Center and was told he could either walk out by himself or be carried by Secret Service if he got worse.
Trump and First Lady Melania Trump tested positive for the virus in October. At the time he said he was experiencing "mild symptoms" of the virus. This came as more in his White House circle tested positive including Hope Hicks. The president received an experimental antibody cocktail.
When he arrived at Walter Reed last year, he also released a video "...saying that he thinks he's “doing very well.”"
