Mix 96.5 Pet of the Week: Sugarplum Sweetcakes

Mix 96.5 Pet of the Week

Sugarplum Sweetcakes (Sugar, for short!) is the perfect name for this super cuddly sweetheart once she gets to know a person. Sugar loves to cuddle, play with her rope toys and kong, and is always happy to get a belly rub. Sugar loves to play with her toys and run around when she gets the chance. Sometimes she will jump up and get a little mouthy when she gets excited, but she always means the best and is learning to play gently. She does have a good amount of energy so would do well in a home where she can run around a yard or go on at least two good walks a day. But after a good walk, she loves cuddling up in her dog bed and taking a nap for most of the day or play with her toys. She is nearly perfect at being house trained (only a few accidents at first) and she will let you know when she needs to go out. She does tend to need to go out more often but she doesn't waste anytime when going out, so it's easy to let her out quickly in the backyard for a moment a few times during the day. It can take a few minutes for her to warm up to new people at first and can be timid / protectively bark when someone new enters her home. Sugarplum needs a low traffic home as she is a fearful dog. Sugarplum's new home should be with an experienced dog owner who is patient and can help her with slow and proper intro's to any new people she meets or have the ability to keep her separated securely when having visitors. Her foster family is a house full of ladies, so she hasn't had not had a lot of exposure to men yet and does appear to be more timid / anxious / yappy around men, so it may take a little extra time and slow introduction to get to know men. Sugar is good on walks and loves time outside. She has been tolerant of other large dogs and been playful with small dogs. NO CATS for her! Sugar is working on her kennel training and has gotten better. She has barked a bit at first when kenneled but is learning to be quiet. She has not chewed / destroyed anything else around the house when left outside her kennel.
