Drew told us that he views all music as the “best form of therapy.” As someone who believes and participates in “traditional therapy,” Taggart also shared how making music helps with digestinging inner feelings.

Having just taken nearly two years to write and record new music for the upcoming Chainsmokers album, Taggart shared, “when you’re writing songs and things just come out, and you say them so accurately…” For Drew, when going through the motions of his day-to-day life sometimes it’s challenging to connect the dots or express certain feelings without the creative outlet that songwriting provides.

The motions of writing music is a “cathartic” experience for Taggart. The producer noted, “you just try and tell the truth and make it sound good. And sometimes you listen back to it and you’re like ‘holy s**t maybe that is what I meant. That is what I mean, that is how I feel.’”

“After we came back from Hawaii in 2020, and we had the backbone of this album, that’s the most confident and happy I think I’ve ever been,” concluded Drew.
