Fewer people carry cash and thanks especially to the pandemic more businesses aren't even accepting cash for payments. Wicker prefers cash and Wilde perfers using her card......but we haven't quite gotten into the cash apps yet, like CashApp and Venmo, PayPal and more. We know we are probably in the minority with more people going cashless but along with the change comes an increase in scams.
One of the latest, according to the Better Business Bureau scam tracker, involves the popular CashApp. People, Con artists, are requesting payments through CashApp. When you make that payment, the scammer immediately blocks you.
From the BBB Scam Tracker site, "For example, one person was targeted by to buy bogus software through CashApp. Another victim tried to buy concert tickets from a seller who claimed to only accept CashApp payments. She sent the $350.00 for the tickets and was instant blocked.”
Another CashApp scam users need to be aware of involves fake customer support numbers. When people experience a problem with the app, they may search online for help. You come across a phony number online, make a call, turn over you login information and end up getting tricked into sending money.
