Confetti Teddy - Richmond Animal Care & Control

kat simons

Confetti Teddy unfortunately arrived to RACC under sad circumstances. His previous owner allegedly moved cross country, abandoning him outside to fend for himself in the elements. Luckily, a wonderful Richmond Animal Control Officer saved him from his past life and brought him to RACC where he could get the medical care and TLC that he needed to thrive.

When Teddy arrived, he was in poor physical condition, starving, terrified, and distrusting of humans-specifically men. Several staff members began working with him one-on-one and started to see his personality truly blossom. Teddy went from backing away and barking to coming forward and offering kisses. With every single day that passes, Teddy grows more and more confident.

Despite his improvements, Teddy's adopter will need to understand that he is a true work in progress. He is still fearful with strangers (especially men) upon first meeting and may alarm bark. Teddy's ideal home is one with adults who are patient, nurturing and willing to continue helping him be his best self. Until he grows more comfortable and confident, his primary caretaker should be female. Teddy has shown that he can coexist nicely with calm, female dog friends, but it may be best if he starts his new life as the only animal so the focus can be on him!
