Duncan is a quiet, older dog who came to us recently from a local shelter. His owners lost their home and surrendered him hoping he would have a new start. Duncan did not do well in the shelter. He was grumpy and growling which made him a poor candidate for adoption. Sadly people passed him by because he was unpredictable though he never harmed anyone. We believe that Duncan is just a grouch! He's never harmed anyone here nor has he tried. It seems his growl is just a part of his personality. He would be best suited to a home with owners experienced with small dogs that are looking for a quiet dog who's a couch potato. He's not a good candidate for a home with children or lots of activity. Duncan likes other dogs and is a clean fellow.

Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
