Meet Dusty, a perfect little dog who came to us recently from a NC shelter where he was found as a stray! Not only is he adorable, but he is super sweet and very playful. Dusty is very loving, happy, and would love to become your perfect pet! He absolutely adores being with his human, and enjoys the company of other small dogs. Fully grown at just 12 pounds, he is a perfect size for most homes! Dusty is in good health, neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. That said, he has tested positive for heart worms and we have begun the soft kill method of eradication as he is completely asymptomatic. This treatment is effective and all medications will accompany him to his new home! We are seeking a home with an adopter who has the ability to work from home or be at home a good part of each day to spend time with this amazing dog! A home without larger pets or small children, and with a fenced, secure yard will give Dusty the room to run and play safely. Dusty will likely make a great couch potato as well as a loving friend!
Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of Dusty and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with your family and Dusty at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting him and determining that he matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
