Gerte is a super sweet little dog that was recently rescued from a NC shelter! Not only is she adorable, but she is a lovely little gal who would make a great companion to mature owner. Gertie is not fond of being bothered by other dogs (and is not cat tested) but she loves humans and cuddling. Other than needing a dental cleaning, she is in great health and was likely someone's beloved pet. Fully grown at just 8 pounds, she is a perfect size for cuddling! Gertie is in good health, spayed, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. We are seeking a home with an adopter able to work from home or be at home the majority of the day to spend time with this sweet girl. A home without larger pets and with a fenced, secure yard is a must. Gertie is not well suited to small children.
Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
