During the holiday season it can be so confusing with so many people asking for assistance and not knowing just who is truly in need and not greed. We have seen first hand a family of 5 children blessed with 5 bikes for Christmas by 3 different organizations… yes you read that correctly….they had 15 bikes. On the same note we have seen children on Christmas morning with absolutely nothing for Christmas….With that being said we are workin with the McKinney-Vento team and asking for people to sponsor a family for Christmas. These children are in the program and homeless…They are NOT living in a tent or in the streets but many are residing in hotels. In the case of a large family they can be adopted by more than one family and they will work together to make this holiday season one they will never forget. If youre unable to adopt a family and want to maybe get 1 thing for a child we will be more than happy to connect you with adopting family to see what else may be needed. We will have information about age, gender, sizes, and wish list of all the children. We do not encourage expensive items such a game systems, and toys guns are forbidden. When compared to low-income and homeless families, children experiencing homelessness have been shown to:
Have higher levels of emotional and behavioral problems;
Have increased risk of serious health problems;
Are more likely to experience separations from their families; and
Experience more school mobility, repeat a grade, be expelled or drop out of school, and have lower academic performance.
