Huxley is one of five in a litter born April 12, 2023. His mother was a perfect mix of Dachshund and Havanese, weighing about 15 pounds. His dad is an unknown. Huxley is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped and ready to find his perfect home! Our rescue is seeking a home with a private, fully fenced yard for exercise and potty breaks, without larger animals or preschool aged children, and with an at-home adopter for consistent socialization and training. Huxley is likely to be between 15 and 20 pounds fully grown.

Our adoption process starts with your email to or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner. More information on our website at
