Jace - Richmond SPCA

kat simons

Jace came to the Richmond SPCA in February 2020 along with about 20 other dogs rescued from a hoarding situation in the western part of Virginia. He has since become a staff favorite with is good looks, goofy demeanor and fondness for affection winning him many friends.

Though his prior life gave Jace little experience as a household companion, with the support of the Richmond SPCA’s behavior team, he has made great strides and is ready to continue that work in a calm, loving home environment. Jace is especially sensitive to any kind of scolding or correction and his guardian must be committed to working with him using reward-based, fear-free techniques. His natural instincts to follow his nose provide an excellent opportunity for enrichment and confidence building through canine sports such as tracking or nose work. His long legs and fast pace make Jace an excellent companion for a runner, and he regularly does a 5K course alongside the Richmond SPCA’s Running Buddies volunteers.
