A domesticated pooch channeled his inner wolf, surviving 29 days in the wilderness.

Luigi, a Minnesota Labrador retriever mix, went missing for several weeks and was recently returned to his owners missing toenails and appearing 25 pounds thinner, according to Minneapolis Star Tribune.

The family dog lost sight of his owners, Zane Brunette and Max McKernan, in Minnesota’s Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness on June 25.
