Peanut - Capital Area Rescue Effort

Peanut is a very nice dog who came to us recently from a NC shelter partner. He is thought to be somewhere around 9-10 years old, which while we are considering him a senior, chihuahuas are known to live 18-20 years in some cases! He is a quiet little fellow, and would be best suited to a quiet, predictable home. Peanut is in good health, but he does have a heart murmur. He has no issues currently and requires no medication or special care. He is neutered, microchipped, fully vaccinated and he tested negative for heart worms. Our goal is to find a home for Peanut with an all adult family that does not have larger pets. He will make an excellent lap dog and is quite a couch potato!

Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
