Penny is a precious soul who we took in when her elderly owner died. We learned that Penny had spent her entire life in a dog pen at a home in rural WV, and we have promised her that those are long past. She is a nice dog who is pretty independent. She is fine inside a home with an owner who will take her out as necessary, and she will need a secure yard to keep her contained and safe when exercising. She is a true hunter! Penny has behaved well with other dogs her size and we hope to find her a kind family who will allow her the opportunity to be a cherished pet.
Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
