Wicker & Wilde News alert.

Well, if drivers won't slow down in school zones then the authorities will make them slow down with brand new speed cameras. And knowing our Capital city, these cameras will actually work as opposed to the so-called "smart" cameras which are supposed to be able to tell when someone is at a light so it will change to green.

Yesterday the city described this new initiative as a pilot that will grow to cover 13 school districts and a total of 26 cameras. There will be warning signs posted to give you a heads up and there will be a 30-day period where you will only get a warning if you get caught speeding. Then, look out because fines will be between $50 for a first offense and then it will cost you $100 every time after that. But let's face it, one time should really be all it takes and let's not forget about the safety of the children which is why this measure was approved. While we're at it, who are these people who try to pass school busses?? Stop that.

Take Wicker and Wilde with you

We aren't 100% sure when the cameras will go live, but the devices were already in place on Semmes where they will be placed near Patrick Henry School for Science and Arts on the Southside. Northside will see cameras up at Linwood Holton Elementary School on Brookland Parkway.
