Oh Em Gee! Let's cut right to the chase. Wicker hates snakes and Wilde loves sharing stories about scary snakes because she likes to see Wicker's reaction to stories like this one! An Indonesian woman, Wa Tiba, told her family she was going to check on her fields. The field was about 1/2 mile away and she grabbed her machete because it was night and she was concerned about wild boars. However......that's not what got her. Ooops....spoiler - she unfortunately never made it home.
Apparently reticulated pythons are common in the area, and when she didn't come home her sister got worried and went to look for her. But all she found were footprints, a flashlight, slippers, and the machete. Wa's sister got some fellow villagers to search and what they found was a 23 foot-long snake with a big bump in its belly. When they cut the snake open they found......yes!! the missing woman was inside the snake. The theory is that she was bitten, strangled and then swallowed.
Usually pythons, the longest snake in the world, usually only feed on smaller mammals so maybe Wa was not a large person. Our condolences to the family and Indonesia is not on our bucket list.
