Sophie is a very sweet dog who can display some initial fear in new situations and with new people. She come to us from a WV shelter and we have no information on her history. She appears tentative when you first meet her but warms up quickly. She is good with other small dogs but is not cat tested, nor has she been around small children here. Sophie is best suited to an experienced pet owner with a secure yard and home.
Our adoption process starts with your email to carerescue@aol.com or Petfinder inquiry. After we receive it, we will email you our prescreening questionnaire. Your answers will help us determine that your home and lifestyle matches the needs of the dog and our adoption criteria. Once determined, we will set up a private meeting with you and the dog at a park near our private kennel just east of Richmond. After meeting the dog and determining that it matches your preferences for a pet, we will accept your application. A home visit by one of our trained volunteers is required for all adoptions, and we will speak with your vet to ensure that you are a responsible pet owner.
