Get your 3D movie theater glasses and get ready for the 2023 solar eclipse.. It's is passing over the United States this year, giving millions of us a chance to glimpse a “ring of fire.” Although the Northwest will have the best view, according to Good News Network, "all of the continental United States will have at least some visibility of the eclipse."
The "ring of fire" is a phrase used to describe the kind of eclipse known as an annular eclipse. That's when the moon looks to have a ring of light around it as it passes in front of the sun, unlike a total eclipse during which the moon completely blocks out the sun.
The annular solar eclipse will take place next Saturday, October 14th, 2023 from 3pm-ish til almost 10pm. The maximum of the eclipse will happen around 8 but that doesn't mean that we will be able to see it at that time. All depends on where we are.In fact, all of the continental United States will have at least some visibility of the eclipse. Unfortunately for Europeans, this eclipse will be beyond them all.
Remember to wear glasses!! And they have to be like the ones you get in the 3D movie theater or there are companies that sell inexpensive plastic eclipse glasses. Protective eyewear is IMPORTANT so that your eyes don't get damaged from the UV radiation.
Happy eclipse viewing! - Wicker and Wilde
