It’s well known that dogs can sense our moods. And every dog reacts differently as well. For instance, Rebecca Wilde's hound dog tries to get her out of a sad mood by playing and her little dog Cheddar will lick away any tears. Whatever his mood, Wicker's dogs just want food - LOL!

It turns out, they can actually smell our stress. The University of Bristol studied how human stress odors affect dogs’ learning and emotional state and it wasn’t good. Humans can also subconsciously smell stress on others and it causes them to make negative decisions. Ditto for pups. The dogs made slower and more pessimistic decisions and approached things cautiously. They were able to be trained to react better to stress, though. That can’t be said for humans…yet.

In the meantime, it would behoove us to be more conscious of our stress levels or any foul mood we might be in for the sake our pets. And it wouldn't hurt us to work on finding a happy place either.
