The show revealed the news halfway through the end credits of the season 1 finale, Variety reports. As the episode came to a close, the titular god of mischief’s case file was branded with the stamp: “Loki will return in season 2.”
Actor Tom Hiddleston plays the main role of Loki who lives in Marvel Cinematic Universe-adjacent world, where he often finds himself in trouble with the Time Variance Authority (TVA).
Hiddleston is joined by Owen Wilson, Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sophia Di Martino, Wunmi Mosaku, and Richard E. Grant. The show is directed by Kate Herron, and Michael Waldron is head writer.
In June, Loki was confirmed as Marvel’s first openly bisexual character.
During episode 3, Loki was speaking with Loki “variant” Sylvie as the two began discussing the topic of love.
While sitting on a train, Sylvie, portrayed by Sophia Di Martino, asked, "How about you? You're a prince. Must've been would-be princesses or, perhaps, another prince."
The supervillain responded, "A bit of both. I suspect the same as you."
Herron took to Twitter to express how much the moment meant to her personally.
"From the moment I joined @LokiOfficial it was very important to me, and my goal, to acknowledge Loki was bisexual," she wrote. "It is a part of who he is and who I am too. I know this is a small step but I’m happy, and heart is so full, to say that this is now Canon in #mcu."
All episodes of "Loki" are now available to stream on Disney+.
