Elmiene, who was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and raised in Oxford, England, shares his impression of New York City, which he finds reminiscent of London. “New York is the closest thing to London,” he admits. “New York is like an intensified version of London. Anything in London just enhance it. That's New York”

At 24 years old, Elmiene is somewhat of an old soul in music, something he attributes to being a nerd. “I mean, I'm a nerd, number one, is that the first source of how I can even know all this music is that when I like something, I need to know everything about it.”

“I'm from Oxford, like we ain't got R&B bursting out, like there's no R&B like that coming out,” he adds. “So like, R&B just felt like my thing, it's my treasure. I found it.”

The singer has now left his mark on the genre he loves, releasing the deeply personal album, songs for someone, centered around the relationship with his father. “It's become something that is weirdly selfishly really just for me, because I know that even if he was alive and I've shown him this album, he might not even take it in like that, because it's in music form.”
