The former Captain America can currently be seen as the baddie in the Netflix hit, “The Gray Man." Earlier this year he voiced the lead in the "Toy Story" spinoff, “Lightyear," the first Pixar movie to hit the big screen since March, 2020. If that wasn't enough, he's also working on getting his biopic of Hollywood legend Gene Kelly into production.

But 2017 might be Evans' favorite year because that’s when he adopted his beloved dog, Dodger.

In a recent interview, Evans described his seven-year old boxer pup as “a cut above the average dog.”

"I'm probably biased,” he told People, “He's just such a good guy. He's just a really happy guy. "[Dodger] makes everyone around him so happy."

Evans previously told People the meet-cute story of how he found Dodger while filming the 2017 drama, “Gifted.”

"One of the last scenes we were filming was in a pound, a kennel," said Evans. "I foolishly walked in, and I thought, 'Are these actor dogs, or are these real up-for-adoption dogs?' And sure enough, they were, so I was walking up and down the aisles and saw this one dude, and he didn't belong there."

"I snagged him, and he's such a good dog," he continued. "They aged him at about one, he acts like a puppy, he's got the energy of a puppy, he's just such a sweetheart, he's such a good boy. He loves dogs, he loves kids, he's full of love."

Since then, Evans has flooded his Instagram account with shots of his four-legged friend, so much so that some have suggested he start an IG account for Dodger. To which Evans states, "What the hell would I post on my account? I need to have something to put on mine…. Not only would that be too much work for me, but I wouldn't have enough stuff for my own page."

Evans has worked his love of kanines into a new partnership with the dog food company, Jinx. As he explained in a press release, "You're always looking for things like this in my profession, finding companies or products that align with your passions, and obviously everyone knows how much I love dogs. Meeting with everyone at Jinx, they not only share the passion, but they have a fantastic product that my dog loves, so it was kind of a no-brainer."

The brand seems to be a celebrity magnet, as it’s backed by other famous investors, including Halsey, Odell Beckham Jr., Zachary Quinto, and Trevor Noah. A commercial campaign featuring Evans will ramp up later this year.
