“Jeopardy!” champion and program host Ken Jennings was surprised by his show recently.

Speaking with the Hollywood Reporter, Jennings said he was caught “off guard” by his former co-host Mayim Bialik’s removal from her position.

Jennings and Bialik began sharing hosting duties for the quiz show permanently in 2022. Sony, the producers of “Jeopardy!” decided to move forward with only Jennings.

“It took me off guard, because I loved working with my Mayim and I’m gonna miss her,” he told the publication.

“I can’t speak to her decision-making process or her options on it,” he said about Bialik’s departure.

Sony has said they made the move to solely Jennings as host to “maintain continuity for our viewers.” They also left open the possibility for Bialik to return to duties for primetime specials in the future.

"But on my end, I’m just a fan of 'Jeopardy!' and I’m always delighted to host when they call upon me," Jennings said.

As a contestant, Jennings won 74 consecutive games on the show in 2004.
