Stanley Tucci and Emily Blunt are more than just costars: they’re family.

The actors, who both appeared in the 2006 hit “The Devil Wears Prada,” have a very important person in common, as Tucci is married to Blunt’s sister, Felicity.

But despite the fact that Tucci and Felicity have been married for over a decade, the “Hunger Games” star admits that he initially kept trying to break things off with her.

Tucci shared on the BBC’s “Desert Island Discs” podcast that he was “kind of afraid to get into a relationship, and I kept trying to break it off because I’m 21 years older than she is.”

He continued, noting that his hesitation was due to not wanting “to feel old for the rest of my life.”

Despite his initial pause, Tucci says he “knew this was an incredibly special person” and after connecting with Felicity at Emily’s wedding, he went to London to film “Captain America” where he told his former costar “I’m dating your sister.” Tucci and Felicity married in 2012.

The couple share two children, Matteo and Emilia. Tucci also has three children with his first wife, Kate Tucci, who died from breast cancer in 2009.

Tucci had his own brush with cancer in 2017, when he was diagnosed with a tumor at the base of his tongue. He credited his recovery to Blunt, telling People in 2022 that “Felicity’s undying attention, affection and encouragement got me through it.”

“They couldn't do surgery because the tumor was so big. It's a miracle that it didn't metastasize. It had been in me so long,” shared Tucci. After a 35-day radiation treatment and seven sessions of chemotherapy, Tucci was “unable to eat solid food for six months.”

He continued, noting that he “lost 30 pounds and my taste buds and saliva glands were destroyed, as was the inside of my mouth, and it’s taken really three years to get back to almost normal… It was hard because I could taste everything, but I couldn’t necessarily swallow.”
