Now officially Back From The Dead and out in front of fans, Halestorm rocked Aftershock 2022 this past weekend and spoke with Audacy host Carlota backstage about their latest album and more.
LISTEN NOW: Halestorm at Aftershock 2022
After such a long break in touring due to the pandemic, Halestorm frontwoman Lzzy Hale says she found a new love of music, because, just like the rest of us, the absence of any kind of camaraderie and forward motion had affected every part of her being. Eventually, she says the only outlet was to "write this damn record," adding "it's probably a true depiction of the rollercoaster ride that we went through mentally and physically."
"It's just so great to be back, and apparently, we made a really heavy record," Lzzy says of 2022's Back From The Dead, "because we didn't have a stage to lay it all out on... I was not happy, I gotta put it out somewhere!"
Lzzy's bandmate Joe Hottinger says coming out of that time made him realize, "you don't take anything for granted, that's for sure. Rock shows are my favorite drug, really. It's the best high in the world, connecting with people like that." Lzzy agrees, adding, "we've always been a very stop-and-smell-the-roses type of band, but this is to another level... the beautiful thing about how serendipitous putting out this record is, the timing of it and getting back to live music, is that it's this rallying war cry of survival, because now we're all here, we're all back, we're doing it. We're in the spot that we love, and we're all in this together. It's a beautiful feeling of unity now."
