Comedian Amy Schumer hits the big 4-0 today, but she celebrated over the holiday weekend with family and friends, including her two-year old son, Gene David.
But it was her husband Chris Fischer who got the biggest laugh when he presented Amy a beautiful chocolate cake with a surprise greeting on top.
“I’m leaving you. This is the only way I could think to do it," the cake reads.
The Instagram clip of the “Happy Birthday” song and cake presentation hilariously cuts off right as Schumer, holding little Gene David on her lap, is reading the greeting with a rising scared look on her face. A number of IG commentators were taken aback.
“That's so not funny” said one. Another simply exclaimed, “What??!!” Mostly it was that cry/smile emoji from Schumer’s fans who know her well.
As per the sarcastic Schumer, she got the gag. She captioned the post simply, "My 🎂 40.”
Some recent actual negative blips have arisen in the couple’s life, including her father’s recent hospitalization and the exit of their beloved nanny, who quit to focus on her studies.
Oh, and did we mention Amy got Lyme Disease last fall? She joked about that too.
Then there was Schumer’s recent Instagram flap with John Krasinski -- claiming he married Emily Blunt for publicity -- which was of course no flap at all, but made for a few good digital outrage moments over the weekend.
More than one grain of salt is needed when it comes to Amy Schumer news.
