On February 2, Twitter was buzzing with rumors that pop star, Bebe Rexha had allegedly passed away from a drug overdose. Unconfirmed sources on Twitter were sharing misinformation about the “Baby I’m Jealous” singer prompting fans and followers into a frenzy of confusion.
Rexha, who had simply been taking a break from social media returned to Twitter to shut down the bizarre fake story. The singer tweets, “Jeez I stay offline for three days and not only am I dead but I died of a drug overdose?!?!”
Bebe retweeted one account that was spreading the false information and writes, “Omg god forbid what the hell. That’s messed up god forbid.” Another fan responded to Rexha, saying she saw a fake tweet posing to be Bebe’s mother announcing her death. The artist responded, “Whattttt putting my mom in the mix that’s messed uppppp.”
