“Saturday Night Live” has locked in its 47th season cast — with two cast members departing, and three new comedians added ahead of the show's Oct. 2 premiere.
Beck Bennett, who joined the show back in 2013, will not be returning. He confirmed his departure in an Instagram post.
“Love you, SNL. Gonna miss you so much. Thank you for 8 years of remarkable people and incredible experiences that completely changed my life. I had so much fun,” he posted alongside pictures of his time on the show.
Bennett’s wide repertoire of impressions spanned from Former Vice President Mike Pence to CNN’s Wolf Blitzer.
Bennett joined the show alongside his “Good Neighbor” castmate Kyle Mooney, who will remain on the show this upcoming season.
Also leaving is Lauren Holt, who was only with the show for one season.
The remainder of last year’s cast will remain in place, including a handful of its biggest stars whose future with the show previously seemed unclear — including Pete Davidson, Kate McKinnon and Cecily Strong.
Michael Che, Mikey Day, Chloe Fineman, Heidi Gardner, Colin Jost, Alex Moffat, Mooney, Ego Nwodim, Chris Redd, Kenan Thompson, Melissa Villaseñor and Bowen Yang round out the returning cast.
Taking the place of the departing duo will be Aristotle Athari, James Austin Johnson and Sarah Sherman, the show announced in a post on its official Twitter account.
Athari, from Los Angeles by way of Texas, comes from the sketch group “Goatface,” which had a Comedy Central special in 2018. He also has appeared in “Silicon Valley.”
Johnson has appeared in “Future Man,” “Adam Ruins Everything” and “Hail Caesar.” He hails from Nashville.
Sherman previously worked on “The Eric Andre Show” and opened for the comedian on tour. She’s from Long Island.
SNL returns this week with Owen Wilson hosting and Kacey Musgraves as musical guest. The iconic show will open up with four consecutive episodes, with Kim Kardashian-West, Rami Malek and Jason Sudeikis set to lead the following episodes.
Halsey, Young Thug and Brandi Carlile will be the musical guests for October.
