The quartet–Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa have not released music since their first full-length project The Album, which dropped in October 2020. The Album topped the Billboard 200 chart at No. 2., and seven songs from the project hit the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
Reportedly, BLACKPINK’s agency, YG Entertainment, announced via press release that the group is in the “final stages of recording a new album” and that the "largest world tour in the history of a K-pop girl group" is in the works. The press release, obtained by Billboard, also mentions “a continuous large-scale project which will extend through the second half of the year.”
Fans can expect new music from BLACKPINK in August. Thus far, YG Entertainment has not announced BLACKPINK's official tour name or when it will begin.
