According to his new music video, if Blake Shelton can’t “Come Back as a Country Boy,” coming back as a Marvel character will do just fine.

In a recently-posted behind-the-scenes video, Blake shares the inspiration for his “Come Back as a Country Boy,” music video came from being a Superfan of Marvel movies. Having seen every single one, he hoped to capture some of their action to tell the story of the song.

“I’m a huge fan of Marvel movies. I’m a huge Avengers fan, I watch all those movies, I’ve seen them all,” Blake shared. “I said, why can’t just a Country guy have superpowers?"

He continued, “Wouldn't that be cool, if just a good ol' country boy could do things like, you know, push over a giant tree, or with just one swath of his hand, rake up an entire river up on the bank? Or in this case, rise from the ashes like a Phoenix.”

Seeing that Blake doesn’t actually have those superpowers (yet), he admitted things got pretty risky on set as he took some heat rising from the ashes, pushing over a 200 year-old Sycamore tree and standing on a 300-foot cliff.

“In order to do some of this stuff with CGI, there’s only so much they can do,” he shared. “We really did have to light the fire and I had to get back there really close — too close for comfort, I'll tell you that," Blake said of his proximity to the flames. "We were able to shoot for seconds at a time before I'm like, 'Hold up, oh my god, I'm dying.'"

With Blake’s risks came a very big reward as he shared he is more than pleased with how the final video turned out (as he should be, it’s epic!) Heck, he even got his 3 minutes and 41 seconds of Marvel fame… a win, win for the Oklahoma country boy.

“We wanted it to be just, basically imagery of a guy who got his wish,” Blake concluded. “That if he ever died, he’d come back and become the exact same person he was before, which was just a good ol’ country boy, except this time, he’s really strong.”
