According to TMZ, the dogs were taken to a vet and removed from Spears’ home after a housekeeper became concerned with their health. Britney then got into an argument with her housekeeper, who subesquently filed a report with the Ventura County Sheriff’s Department for an alleged misdemeanor battery incident.
As details continue to emerge, the conflict over the dogs may have been the incident that caused Spears to become the suspect in a battery investigation. A source cleared up details about the incident to PEOPLE and told the outlet that Spears “didn’t hit anyone.”
“The housekeeper was holding her phone and Britney tried to knock it out of her hands," the source said.

Furthermore, Spears’ lawyer Matthew Rosengart issued a statement to Pitchfork calling the incident “overblown sensational tabloid fodder.”
“Nothing more than a manufactured ‘he said she said’ regarding a cell phone, with no striking and obviously no injury whatsoever. Anyone can make an accusation but this should have been closed immediately,” Rosengart said.
“To its credit, the Sheriff’s office itself has acknowledged that the incident was classified as a 'very minor misdemeanor…' and confirmed 'there were no injuries.' If this did not involve Britney Spears it never would have been reported at all.”
The news comes just a week after Spears’ father, Jamie Spears, agreed to step down as her conservator. Spears held the role for 13 years.
