Cardi B gave an inspirational speech to the 6th-8th grade students about the importance of what her public school meant to her. She also highlighted the impact of working hard in school to achieve your dreams.

"A couple of years from now, when you're 14, when you're 15, when you're 18 or when you're 21, make sure you think long term," Cardi B said in her speech.

The visit was concluded with an announcement of the $100,000 contribution to the school, taking the principal, Desiree Resto, by surprise.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cardi B back home to IS 232 in the Bronx, and we are so grateful for her generous contribution to her alma mater,” said Schools Chancellor David Banks. “Cardi B’s commitment of $100K for the arts will help the school’s kids soar to their highest heights. Thank you, Cardi!”
