“It’s like she’s just haunting him everywhere,” she shared of the storyline. “He can’t get rid of her, her thoughts, and can’t not see her everywhere. It’s very cool, very cinematic and just, the beautiful, haunting melody is absolutely amazing, I knew I had to sing it the first time I heard it.”
It isn’t just the release of the song that has Carrie excited, she is also deep in the brainstorming phase of how she hopes to present the song to her fans on tour.
“I think the thing I’m looking forward to the most about playing this song live is all the things I can do with it in a live setting,” she said. “We want people to see and feel and experience the song so I’m definitely just looking forward to doing things visually and creatively to support the song and kind of take people into that world of ‘Ghost Story.’”
It’s sure to be an adventure for fans as Carrie is telling a story like never before.
“I hope when my fans listen to this song they can just see it playing out in front of them. I feel like that is something Country music does — they are the genre of storytelling and I feel like when you have a great story, you can just see it by listening to it."
She continued, “[It’s] like a 3-minute, little mini-movie. I hope they see the movie, I hope they like the movie, I hope they want to sing along with it and I hope they love this song and the story just as much as I do.”
