Talinda Bennington, the widow of Linkin Park frontman Chester Bennington, remarried in a ceremony in Kahuku, Hawaii.
Her new husband is Los Angeles County firefighter Michael Fredman. The two announced their engagement about four months ago.
The ceremony took place on January 4th, not January 1st – the date of Talinda and Chester’s anniversary – as some outlets had reported. Talinda wasn’t happy with the reports and used social media to clear things up.
"With joy and love I want to set something straight. ON JANUARY 4th, I wed a wonderful man, great friend, and son this weekend,” she said. “We celebrated with all of our family and friends on the beautiful island of Oahu. The day we chose was a day of meaning, in many different ways. My anniversary w/Chester wasn't my new wedding date. Jan. 1st will always be the day I married Chester. I would never paint over that day with anything else.”
Chester Bennington died on July 20, 2017. He took his own life on what would have been friend Chris Cornell’s 53rd birthday. Cornell died by suicide just two months earlier. Talinda Bennington has spent the years since shining a light on mental health and depression.
“I just want you to know that you’re loved, you matter and the world means something with you in it,” she said in a video on the second anniversary of Chester’s death. “Today, let’s make Chester proud and take care of each other because that’s what he would want us to do.”
