Underrated Hip Hop legend, Shock G, has tragically passed away at 57. The news was confirmed by Chopmaster J, co-founder of famed group, Digital Underground.
Shock G, born Gregory Jacobs, was a rapper and lead vocalist of Digital Underground and is best known for his alter ego, "Humpty Hump," and hits like "The Humpty Dance," "Sex Packets," and the hit collaboration with 2Pac, "I Get Around."
TMZ reports that the rapper was found in a hotel room in Tampa, according to his father. The cause of death is unknown, but authorities will conduct an autopsy.
About his late friend and comrade, Chopmaster wrote on Instagram, "34 years ago almost to the day we had a wild idea we can be a hip hop band and take on the world through it all the dream became a reality and the reality became a nightmare for some. And now he’s awaken from the fame long live shock G Aka Humpty Hump and Rest In Peace my Brotha Greg Jacobs!!! #digitalunderground"
Outside of his work with Digital Underground, Shock G was also an active producer who's worked with talents like Dr. Dre, Bobby Brown, and more.
