With Yeezy season upon us, as Kanye West is set to drop his long awaited tenth studio album DONDA in less than one day, the internet had some opinions about Drake, and when he should release his own highly anticipated LP, Certified Lover Boy, obviously a “petty” suggestion on account of their long standing beef.
However now, as it seems, thanks to social and digital media marketing strategist Karen Civil, apparently the beef is squashed and “they friends now.”
Drake and Kanye’s beef goes a little ways back, but the two go back even further. Starting off as friends and sometimes collaborators, early in Drake’s career. There friendship was first tested in 2017 after Kanye’s infamous rants at The Saint Pablo Tour made things rather tense. However, things really took a turn in 2018 when Ye was pulled into Drake’s infamous beef with Pusha T. Stemming from his diss track, “The Story of Adidon,” in which Pusha revealed Drake was a father, claiming he was hiding his child - which was information rumored to have been leaked by Kanye.
Since then, throughout the last few years, the feud between the two seemed to be alive and well, both taking jabs and sneaking petty references into their tracks. Ye even refused to send Drake a sample of a song he’d previously offered pre-fight that resulted in those “Poopy-di scoop” bars in “Lift Yourself.”
While these claims form Karen Civil are far from a confirmation that the two are back on good terms, it’s important to note that she does have a great track record when it comes to legitimate takes. So if she's saying that Kanye and Drake are friends again, there's actually a chance that it could be true.
