Can you be anymore ocean bound?
COVID-19 won’t stop “Friends!” Or at least a “Friends”-themed cruise.
Despite stories of some ports no longer wanting cruises docking in them, and lingering questions about CDC restrictions, plans for a “Friends”-themed cruise are setting sail.
“Cruise with Friends” is a cruise adventure that will take place, according to People, from May 15 to 21, 2022, on the ship Celebrity Equinox, and feature costume contests, trivia, and more. The ship will embark from Fort Lauderdale, Florida with stops in Key West, Grand Cayman, and Cozumel, Mexico.
"Get ready to eat like Joey, joke like Chandler, cook like Monica, shop like Rachel, yoga like Phoebe, and dig like Ross," the Fana World Travel website exclaims.
But it’s going to cost you a lot more than a mocha latte at Central Perk. Fares for the cruise range from $1,648.66 for an inside stateroom to $3,048.66 for a Sky Suite with a balcony. In addition to port charges, taxes, and gratuities, the experience comes with unlimited surf Wi-Fi, $150 shore excursion credit, and a premium beverage package. Now that mocha latte better be free!
Unlike other pop culture-themed cruises, none of the celebrities connected to the series are expected to be shuffling on board with you. The “Friends” cast hasn’t quite reached that Vegas stage just yet.
No matter the hovering pandemic questions about the cruise industry, the watery vacation option remains popular, and this “Friends” cruise is joining the fun.
After the recent popular HBO Max reunion special and syndicated/streaming ubiquity that rivals any old sitcom, it seems fans crave even more “Friends”-ly activity. This and/or the planned “Friends” musical should satiate them until, I don’t know, a “Friends” theme park?
